CheckFlight Corsair is here at last. We sent everything away for manufacturing
in early July and got it back in time for the big show at Oshkosh.
We think you all are really going to love CheckFlight Corsair. The
recordings came out perfect and there're plenty of them. You can hear
every cylinder fire on engine starts. You can hear the tire treads
as they roll by right in front of you on landing. It's gorgeous. We
decided to make it a 2 CD set and included the stories told by some
of the living legends who flew the Corsair during the WW2 era. They
really are the "Great Generation". Be sure and check out the details
elsewhere in the site.
We had a great time at EAA in Oshkosh this year. It was fun meeting
so many of you there. On our way we stopped in Kalispell once again
and had a second unforgettable ride in Ray Thompson's F4U-5. And to
think this is called work!
Almost on a whim we attended a 99's fund raising dinner and small
air show at the Sanders family hanger in Ione, California. In the
Warbird community, Sanders is synonymous with Sea Fury. Many Sea Furys
are restored and race prepared at their beautiful and spotless facility.
It was a picture perfect California day and evening, complete with
golden hills dotted with oak trees. Dreadnought September Fury and
September Pops, all Sea Fury racers were parked on the ramp. When
we attend events like these we always bring the recording gear, just
in case. Lucky we did. Brian Sanders treated everyone to a beautiful
aerobatic routine in his Sea Fury..., no music, no other planes and
no announcing. The flying was great and so was the recording. The
real unexpected "show-stopper" though was Mike Brown's magnificently
restored and race ready, F7F Tigercat. In the late afternoon stillness
he expertly guided this drop dead gorgeous twin engine fighter through
gentle aerobatics for a good twenty minutes. We were stupefied. Got
it all on tape. It inspired a new CD, hopefully ready by next year.
Look for "The Grumman Cats".
A couple more CDs are in the hopper too. We have an aerobatics CD
in the works which will bring the sounds of many aircraft that otherwise
wouldn't make it onto an AirCraft Records CD. We're also working on
a "Best of Reno on Record" compilation CD, featuring some of the best
sounds from our three Reno on Record CDs along with some new stuff.
